Promote moral and cultural development with workshops that teach pupils to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle at school and home.

New for 2017

Materials and Their Properties

A key stage one workshop in which we look at every day materials and think about the properties they have that make them useful for certain items.  We also consider how these properties can be used to separate the materials in the recycling process.

The 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) (30 - 45 minutes)

This session is similar to the assembly on the 3Rs but involves the pupils thinking in more depth about the actions they can take to follow the 3Rs. The problems with landfill and each of the 3Rs are looked at in turn with a short activity on each to help the pupils better understand the concepts and actions they take.

Composting (30 - 45 minutes)

This session is similar to the Composting assembly but involves more in-depth thought about how to create healthy compost. There are a range of interactive tasks that will help pupils to understand the importance of considering what they put into the compost bin and how to look after their compost bin.

Food Waste (30 - 45 minutes)

This session is similar to the 'Why use your food waste caddies?' assembly.  It covers what can and can't go into the caddies in more detail and involves a closer look at what happens to food waste.  this workshop is only applicable in areas where food waste is collected as part of the local kerbside collection scheme.
