Top 10 books for World Book Day

We're a bunch of book worms here at NWEET, so to celebrate World Book Day, we have come up with a list of our top 10 favourite books all about Waste and Energy!

Why we love it:

This book is about the balance between humanity and nature.

What is it  about?


George wants to save the world by luchtime and Grandpa helps him.

Why we love it:

You can follow George’s adventure and get great tips on how you too can save the world.

What is it about?

Max the Hedgehog has a mission to find a safe way to cross the road.

Why we love it:

A classic tale that is funny, witty and has an important message too!

What is it about?

Initially the towns people take what they need from the forest, but they soon become greedy...

Why we love it:

The illustrations are beautiful in this tale all about conservation and the dangers of greed.
 

6. Percy the Park Keeper by Nick Butterworth

There are lots of books in the series, all about Percy’s adventures to look after the park and it’s wildlife.

Why we love it:

Easy to read, these are classic tales for all to enjoy and remember.

What is it about?

The Iron Woman has come to teach mankind a lesson for polluting the water near Lucy’s house.

Why we love it:

Great descriptive scenes, a fantastical tale full of girl power!

 4. Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel

What is it about?

Michael Recycle helps the people of Abberdoo-Rimey to clean up their town.

Why we love it:

A tale of how one person can make a big difference.

 3. The Wump World by Bill Peet

What is it about?

The Pollutians come to Wump World in search of a new home after they destroyed their own.

Why we love it:

Another tale about conservation, with the wonderfully sweet Wumps.

 2. Stig of the Dump by Clive King

What is it about?

Barney crashes into Stig at the dump. The two of them use materials in the dump to improve stig’s house and enjoy a series of adventures.

Why we love it:

A book to be enjoyed all in one go or one exciting chapter at a time.

A simple tale about the danger that greed poses to the environment.

Why we love it: 

This book will bring to attention a variety of issues from waste to caring for nature.
